CPHYS Scholarship


Description.


The West Virginia University Department of Physics and Astronomy, with the support of the National Science Foundation, is pleased to announce the CPHYS Computational Physics Scholarship Program to support individuals pursuing a Physics degree with a Computational Physics Area of Emphasis. The CPHYS Scholarship is a scholarship program that provides up to $10,000 per year to physics students at West Virginia University. The scholarship may be awarded to high school seniors applying to WVU and to current physics students at WVU. The goal of the program is to increase the number of West Virginians pursuing high tech careers in physics and computer science.

Successful applicants for the CPHYS Scholarship will be selected using the following criteria:

Responsibilities.


Students who accept a CPHYS scholarship agree to the following responsibilities.

WVU Application


  1. Complete the application form available here:
    Current Student Application
  2. Complete and print out your Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) report.
  3. Submit your application by placing it in Dr. John Stewart's box in the physics office.
  4. The application can also be emailed directly to Dr. Stewart at jcstewart1@mail.wvu.edu.
  5. While applications are considered year-round, those submitted before May 15th or December 15th will receive first consideration.

High School Application


  1. Complete the application form available here:
    High School Application
  2. Complete and print out your Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) report.
  3. Obtain a copy of your high school transcript (it does not have to be the official copy).
  4. Have two letters of recommendation from your mathematics or science teachers sent to the address below.
  5. Mail your application to:

  6. The application or letters of recommendation can also be emailed directly to Dr. Stewart at jcstewart1@mail.wvu.edu.
